So many things to talk about and I finally have internet service again – how ever did we live without it! Quilts have been going in and out of the building – to the quilters, to the binder, to the photographer and back home again. There seems to be a quilt on the design wall (flannel backed tablecloths tacked to the office wall) all the time. There are blocks for a new Savannah quilt from Moda’s new Collection for a Cause: Homefront up there right now. They are waiting for the rest of the fabric to arrive so the quilt can be pieced together. It is so different from our current Savannah out of Marcus Fabrics’ Cotillion collection, but it is just gorgeous also.
Paula and I are on the road again and heading to the Greater Philadelphia Quilt Exposition in Oaks, PA. My daughter Caitlin is traveling with us – we can always use the extra help for set up. I’m so excited about this show because it is a new show for us and it is 10 minutes from my granddaughter!!! Can’t wait to Wednesday when I get to see her again and of course her wonderful mommy and daddy ( my son and daughter-in-law). We will also get to see our dear friends, Phyllis and Bob Anderson from Silver Thimble and Gloria Parsons and her group from The Olde Green Cupboard – the carny crowd as we call ourselves. After this show, we head out to Longmont, CO for Quilt-A-Fair and then back to Katy to get ready for Market and Festival. On our way home, we will make a special stop so Paula can see her beautiful little granddaughter Sophie (and of course her wonderful parents). I’m hoping we’re going to spend the night at Shirley’s (Paula’s mom) – she makes the best cheese grits for breakfast. Marcie and the girls are holding down the fort and trying to get everything cut and ready to go to Festival.
Have you seen the latest Quiltmania and Quilt Sampler Fall/Winter 2009 magazines? Congratulations to Sheryl Johnson of the Temecula Quilt Company from Temecula, CA for making the cover of Quilt Sampler with their beautiful quilt using Bonnie Blue Basics and Backgrounds. We got to see the quilt in person when we stopped there on our way home from International Quilt Festival – Long Beach. Absolutely beautiful!!! Imagine how excited we were when Harriet’s Basket was selected for Quiltmania magazine and then to find out it was the cover of the latest issue – WOW!! The pattern is included in the magazine and the kit is available through our website.
Don’t forget Web Sampler Celebration IV begins tomorrow, September 15th and you have until December 15th to purchase all 12 of the blocks and your finishing kit.
Well tomorrow is another long day on the road. Wish I could engineer a way to use my machine in the car. I guess I could fold those fat quarters we threw in the backseat of the truck!
Until tomorrow – happy quilting.
